The Cosmopolitan Divide, part 4

As adults, most of us have scaled the wall of psychological development, having the capacity to understand any framework, pattern, or concept. But the content will be different for each of us. In first grade, I could snap months before I could whistle; the reverse was true of some classmates. As an adult, I can see the economic, psychological, and cultural factors behind many of the questions that I get in my job as a reference librarian (do you have a copy of my textbook?); but it is my colleagues who are more equipped to handle students experiencing strong emotions (I’ll fail my classes because I can’t afford any of the textbooks!).
